Welcome to the Age Takes Centre Stage Festival web site.

The fifteenth festival for over fifties in North Tyneside is coming up this October. Starting with a fabulous free celebration for UK and UN Older People’s Day on Friday 1st October at Howdon Community Centre, look out for a whole month of great activities, events and special offers for people 50+.  Local older people’s groups in partnership with North Tyneside Council are working on the full festival programme ready for the website and the  next edition of Widening Horizons in mid-September.

You can start planning right now for this year’s Amongst Friends Coach Outings and the Sail Away Cruise to Haarlem with DFDS.

And get ready to celebrate the achievements of people over 50 in North Tyneside by nominating an individual or group for an Age Takes Centre Stage Award.  This year the categories are:

  • Older People Together –this is to celebrate  the achievements of groups  that give older people more opportunities to enjoy life and contribute to the community.

  • Individual Achievement in Volunteering - for a person aged over 50 who has given a lot to the community in North Tyneside as a volunteer.

We welcome all nominations, but this year we are particularly inviting nominations for building friendship and neighbourliness in our community. Click here for the nomination form
